International women’s day 2025 - “accelerate action”
What better way to begin another chapter of my journey, my continued fight for equity and rights for women, for those living with a dual sensory loss - in fact, all those living with a disability - a ‘difference’ as perceived by those with the loudest voices in our worlds - I believe we deserve to be seen, to be heard and to see lasting, meaningful change just as much as anyone else, so let’s go - let’s see where this chapter takes us. . . .
International Women's Day is a global celebration recognising the incredible achievements of women regardless of nationality, ethnicity, culture, or background. It's a day to honour women's contributions across social, economic, cultural, and political spheres, while also calling for faster progress towards gender equality.
The theme for International Women's Day (IWD) 2025 is "Accelerate Action". This theme calls for faster progress towards gender equality.
I’m 100% behind that for sure !
As individuals, we can all take steps in our daily lives to positively impact women's advancement, either as direct activists, as allies, as confidants and collaborators, we have done so much and stand on shoulders of giants - but there’s so far to go, SO many influences at all levels of society across the globe that seek to diminish and defame the good work and good word of women’s rights, disability rights - any under-represented group’s rights.
We can call out stereotypes, challenge discrimination, question bias, celebrate women's success, and so much more. Additionally, sharing our knowledge and encouragement with others is key. We must continue to fight - continue to press for accelerated change and action that is founded of power, vision and what is good for all.
let’s go!
